It's time to come together as a community and take care of one another. When you see someone who needs a little extra support, reach out your hand... I met Rachel through the Buy Nothing group when she posted that she was in need of food for her 5 children. We have since become friends and she just needs a little community support.
She is a single mom to 6 children (5 live with her). Two are autistic. She has stomach cancer, diabetes, and has been in and out of the hospital for the past 4 years. She used to be a bus driver for AC Transit before she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2007. The house they live in currently has toxic black mold in the kitchen from a leak in the upstairs bathroom, which has yet to be repaired. She is overwhelmed and is asking for help from the community.
She would like to use this money to relocate into a healthy housing situation, buy shoes and clothes for her kids, get her car fixed, get caught up on bills, breathe, and get healthy! The HEALTHY part is, of course, the most important... and by relieving some of the financial stress, some love and care, we can help make this a reality for Rachel and her family.
If you feel called to help this beautiful family find their footing again, please give what you can... every little bit helps and will go directly to them!
